 Since returning to Dorset, Matt has made a great contribution to table tennis. During the year he also found time to complete his UKCC Level 2 Coaching Qualification.  Matt has now taking up the mantle of Lead Coach at the Dorset Table Tennis Academy and also coaches groups and individuals in a number of local schools and clubs.

Matt is a former Cadet, Junior and now Senior England International. He has played at the highest club level in Sweden, Germany and Belgium. He was Under 21’s Men’s Grand Prix Champion in 2012. His highest England ranking was No 6 in 2013. Last year he was a member of the Sycamore team which won the highly prestigious British league Premier Division.

Rowden Fullen is an ETTA Level 4 Coach. He has coached players and coaches for over 50 years. He has worked in 23 countries over 3 continents with both National and Regional Associations.  He has developed world top 20 players and numerous National Champions around the world. His main specialism is in female players.

Steve Foster is a UKCC level 3 Table Tennis Coach.  Steve has been coaching for 4 years as a professional coach.  As a player he has been playing Table Tennis for 11 years and continues to represent Dorset in the Senior County Championships Premier Division. For his club, Bournemouth Sports TTC,  he plays in the Senior British League Premier Division. He coaches players of all ages and all levels.

Alison Broe is a UKCC Level 3 tutor, assessor and coach. She has coached at all levels from beginner to international teams competing at World, Commonealth and European Championships. Alison has also represented England at Junior and Senior levels with over 500 caps for the National Team.  She is four times National Singles Champion and won medals at both European and Commonwealth Championships. Her highlight was representing Great Britain in Barcelona at the Olympic Games in 1992.

During his 20 years of teaching, he has mentored and coached many young people to fulfil their potential. James has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and is a UKCC Level 2 Coach.

Linda was representing her county, Essex, by the age of 9. Even at this age, she was keen to teach others how to play the game she loved.  As a player, she reached the dizzying heights of county No 1 for Essex and England Junior Number 2. Linda offers her services to everybody but particularly supports young female players keen to follow her example up the National Rankings.

Shaun Newcomb is a full time wheelchair user, currently a UKCC Level 2 coach who is aiming to complete his Level 3 in Spring 2015. While Shaun coaches all ages and abilities, he specialises is coaching athletes with a disability, working from beginner standard to Elite level. Shaun has coached and been a training partner for some of our current GB Paralympic athletes and was selected to be the coach for the EAD (Elite Athletes with a Disability) at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Shaun works with the English Table Tennis Association (ETTA) as the South / South East Regional Disability Officer and runs table tennis sessions for rehabilitation in the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Injuires Centre in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

Julie Smillie is a UKCC Level 2 Table Tennis Coach as well as a qualified primary school teacher. As a junior she was in the English national squad and has played at senior county level for Hampshire, Dorset and Sussex. Julie is a member of the NMTTC committee and coordinates coaching for juniors on Thursday evenings.

Rob Searle is a UKCC Level 2 Coach. He has been coaching at Merton TTC and supporting the Bournemouth League Coaching on Saturday mornings for many years. Rob was instrumental in the success of the Park School Girls’ Team winning the Nationals, last year, devoting a large amount of time developing both their technical ability and confidence. Rob’s coaching philosophy aims to assist all players to have fun in a safe environment and hopefully give them a sport they can enjoy for many years to come!
